That old cliché about 1,000 words? A perpetual short change of what a photograph can represent. The same can be said for an “About” page where we try to capture enough of ourselves to inform, introduce, and invite visitors to learn a little more. Yet here we are and a few words must do. 

Some have followed me as labels most of life. Immigrant: growing up in Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago. New Yorker: embracing whole-heartedly a love of Brooklyn, the city that welcomed me. Husband, father: knowing too well the fleeting nature of a moment and the spark of a memory. Veteran: serving in the US Air Force for several years. Colorblind: a unique challenge and opportunity that pushes me in my art today.

These labels represent so little and so much of how I see the world, how my story and art have evolved together. Each step led me to more deeply explore lines, angles, depth, finding a deep love for black and white photography along the way, building in me a deeper appreciation for the play of color, the vibrance and tone, the bounce or absence of light, and the way each of these elements coalesce into a story, a viewing experience.

So I proudly own the label: Photographer.  And my story is secondary to the ones in front of my lens, but ever influencing the framing.  I am inspired by the world before and around me - by the human, the real, the natural, the play of light - and I am honored to bring this framing to you.
